Young Grapes

Note from the artist,

Lana Shea:

“Young Grapes” is a watercolor inspired by the grapevines growing in our backyard garden in Ankeny, Iowa.  My husband and I planted the concord grapes but had to wait five years before we saw any significant growth in the plant.  In the fifth year, that one plant put out a phenomenal amount of vines which covered the 16 x 8 foot lattice.

I painted Young Grapes as I excitedly anticipated the long awaited harvest.  Even though the grapes were yet green and small in this painting, they grew to produce in incredible amount of rich, deep purple delights from one strong and deep rooted plant.

Read John 15:5 for a word about the most wonderful vine you can imagine.
