Homemade Applesauce Easy

Apples (whatever you have on hand)

Peel, core and slice up apples

Cover the bottom of sauce pan with 1/8"-1/4" water or apple juice

Put apple pieces in pan and apply lid

Cook on medium and bring to a boil (about 5 minutes)

Stir and turn down heat to lowest setting

Cook with lid for about 30 minutes until the apples are translucent and soft.

Mash with potato masher or blend in a blender (keep chunky for home-style or blend for smooth)

Taste for sweetness. Sweeter apples will not need any sweetener added.

If it is not sweet enough, sprinkle with brown sugar, stir and taste.  Continue to add a little at a time until desired sweetness is achieved.

Optional - add a sprinkle of cinnamon, nutmeg and/or allspice to give other flavors of applesauce.  

NOTE: 8 medium apples makes about 4 cups of sauce
